Information we collect

Tambu collects some information about you, including information that directly or indirectly identifies you:

Account Data

To use Tambu you need to create an account. During the sign up process we collect and store:

  • Your email address. This allows you to access your account, including any paid features you may have subscribed to.

  • Your date of birth. This helps us ensure that you meet the age requirement.

Third-Party Accounts

Tambu optionally allows you to sign up and log in using accounts you create with third-party products and services, such as Google and Apple.

When you access Tambu with these third-party accounts, we only use and store the email address provided by those accounts.

Practice Data

Tambu lets you log your music practice session and keep a library of items you practice. To perform this service, we have to store the data you provide to us about these sessions and items, including but not limited to:

  • dates and times of the sessions

  • session durations

  • your notes about your sessions or items

  • audio recordings you make in the app during practice sessions

  • media you choose to record and/or upload about your practice sessions and items, such as images, audio files, videos, and documents

Feedback

You may choose to send us messages about your experience of using Tambu, report any issues, or request new features (collectively referred to as "feedback" from now on) via the "Feedback" tab in the app. We use a third-party provider, Gleap, to collect and manage your feedback.

When you use the Feedback feature, we collect your email address and the content of any message you send. We process this data based on our legitimate interest in helping you with your queries and improving your experience with Tambu. We do not share this data with any other third parties.

Your feedback data is stored for up to 6 months, but you can request its deletion at any time by contacting us via the feedback tab or by emailing us at hello@tambu.fm

Analytics

We use some third-party services to ensure Tambu is operating correctly, to understand how users use it, and to help us improve it. These third-party services may collect data like your device information, usage data, and app performance metrics. This data is anonymised and not linked to your account. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising.

The third-party services we use are:

  • Firebase Crashlytics: This service is used to identify crashes and errors in the app. This allows us to identify and fix issues, and improve the reliability of the app. It collects data such as: Crashlytics Installation UUIDs, crash traces, device models, and operating systems. The data is kept for 90 days.

  • Google Analytics for Firebase: This service is used to understand how users interact with the app in order to improve it. We do not use Google Analytics for marketing or ads. It collects various aggregated and anonymised data such as: Firebase installation IDs, Analytics App Instance IDs, usage data, IP addresses (anonymised), device models, app opens, screen opens, and geography. The data is kept for up to 14 months.

Beta user group

Occasionally, Tambu may offer users the opportunity to register their interest in joining the beta users group. Beta users are granted early access to new features that may be incomplete or contain bugs.

If you choose to register your interest, we will record and store your registration date. You can revoke your interest and erase this data at any time via the settings screen. If you have expressed interest, we may contact you by email to invite you to join the beta group.

Once part of the beta testing group, you will have the option to provide feedback in two ways:

  • In-app Feedback Feature: You can share feedback directly through the in-app Feedback feature.

  • Discord Server: At your discretion, you may join the Tambu Discord server, where you can engage in discussions with other users and provide feedback.

Feedback provided by you and other beta users may be used to improve the app and may lead to the development of new features or services.

Feedback data will be retained as follows:

  • In-App Feedback: Feedback submitted through the in-app Feedback feature will be stored and retained as already outlined in the "Feedback" section above.

  • Discord Feedback: If you choose to provide feedback or engage in discussions through the Tambu Discord server, your messages will be subject to Discord’s own terms of service and privacy policy. Typically, Discord retains data for as long as your Discord account remains active. You can request that we remove your profile and messages from our server by emailing us at hello@tambu.fm , but you should understand that Discord may retain certain data in accordance with their own policies. By joining the Discord server, you acknowledge that Discord is a separate platform governed by its own terms and privacy policy. We recommend reviewing Discord’s policies before participating.

If you request the deletion of your feedback, any ideas developed based on your feedback prior to your request may still be used, as these ideas may have already been integrated into our planning and development process.

Preferences and Settings Data

To improve your experience and ensure consistency across app sessions, Tambu stores certain "Preferences and Settings" data directly on your device. This data is not shared with us or any third parties. Preference and Settings Data helps the app remember your last-used settings or selections to make your experience more seamless.

Examples of Preferences and Settings Data include:

  • The last instrument you used (if you have more than one) in a practice session or item, to automatically filter your practice library

  • In future versions, the last BPM you set the metronome to

This data is solely for enhancing your user experience and remains stored locally on your device.

How we use your data

We do not sell your personal information or aggregated data.

We use your data in the following ways:

To provide the key service offered by Tambu

We collect and use data to give you the ability to:

  • Access your account: log in and use Tambu, including any paid features you may have subscribed to.

  • Save your practice items: organise a library of items that you would like to practice, keep any relevant notes, and see the last time you practiced them.

Data sharing and selling

We do not sell your data to third parties. We only share your data with third party service providers (such as our cloud providers and payment processor) for the purpose of delivering and improving the app. If at any point we were to begin to sell or share user data for other purposes, you will be notified in advance and given the right to opt out.
